2008 Angkor Wat Bike Event a Huge Success!!

Since 2006, VFI has been proudly hosting the Angkor Wat Bike Race and Rally every December at the Angkor Wat Temple Complex in Siem Reap, North-Western Cambodia. The course takes racers and fun-riders along narrow roads passing ancient temples, elephants, jungle, rice fields, monkeys, villages and many of the people and children who make Cambodia so special.

The main objective of the race is to raise funds for the benefit of VFI projects in Cambodia, for which more details are available on our website, www.villagefocus.org. No less important however is that everyone has the most amount of fun. That is why we’ve introduced the Cyclo Race, for a lighter view of Angkor Wat – and a good workout to boot! The Rally is a slow tour of the complex, which is normally completed as a group, and allows participants to fully appreciate the beautiful scenery. For the hard-core racers out there, believe us, the competition is pretty fierce. This year’s winner finished the 80K race (actually 72K because of road works) in 1 hour 50 minutes. That’s an average speed of 40 kmph on roads where there is competition with other traffic and, of course, the elephants!.....(more)
