The Impact of Legal Raising Awareness Activities on Land and Natural Resources in Donsamphanh village, Longsan district, Xaysomboun province, Laos.

Through LIFE student volunteer program batch 3, student volunteers gained practical skills and experiences through the Legal Raising Awareness Activities on Land and Natural Resources in village level. The volunteer group of Donsamphanh village consisted of 5 members and had implemented the activities in this village for three rounds. The first was to collect data on changes of natural resources use by using participatory approach; the second round was the legal raising awareness activity and the third round was to provide legal counseling to villagers related to land customary land rights and land holder rights as well as conflict resolution.

These activities in Donsamphanh village created good impacts especially for villagers to know what their rights are and how they could access to justice when the conflict related to land arising. Student volunteers used interactive approaches during their implementation such as role play, posters and videos which helped a lot to engage the participation of villagers from different groups such as elderly, men, women and children.

District authorities impressed the approaches student volunteers had used during the activities and they hope to apply some of them when they do in other villages.
