VFI’s LIFE Program is one of the grantees of the 16th Round of UNDEF’s Democracy Fund
Village Focus International (VFI) is proud to announce that this year we will receive funding by the UN Democracy Fund to support the two-year project “Empowering Young Law Students for Village Community Access to Justice in Lao PDR” (2023-24).
The project aims to empower poor Lao communities and to improve their access to land and natural resources through capacity building of the young law students and the provision of their legal services to communities.
The project will take place in 10 villages all over Laos, and support up to 120 law students who will work in groups to collect data and support the villages through legal awareness raising.
The activities aim to: 1) build capacity of law students on the legal protection of land and natural resources, 2) implement legal awareness raising of communities on their land and natural resources rights, 3) resolution of conflicts regarding land rights and natural resources.
The project will be implemented by the lawyers and trainers of VFIs LIFE Program on legal awareness raising in Lao PDR, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences (FLP) and the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLE) under the National University of Laos (NUoL).
